Four Month Update

We had Walden's 4 month check-up yesterday (and he turned 4 months old today - wow!).  He is still a big boy - 98th percentile for length and 96th percentile for weight.  He did a great job at the doctor's and had the least amount of crying yet!  He had to get two immunization shots, which are hard for me to watch.  He was very brave for the first one; his smile just faltered but he didn't cry.  Then for the second one, though, he cried hard - poor guy!  Too bad all immunizations can't be oral; he had an oral immunization for rotavirus and he loved it, haha!

At 4 months old, Walden likes:

  • Looking at trees
  • Having someone sing to him
  • Reading and "eating" books
  • Looking in the mirror
  • Playing with stuffed animals
  • Putting things in his mouth
  • Getting toweled off after a bath
  • Banging on the piano
What I am loving:
  • If you look at him and stick out your tongue, he sticks out his tongue back at you!
  • If I sing to him, he sometimes makes "singing" noises back at me
  • How he smiles when I go to pick him up out of his cradle or pack n' play
What is challenging right now:
  • We just switched from his cradle to his pack n' play, so it is taking a longer time to get him down for naps/bedtime
  • He has recently figured out how to roll over from back to front.  It's super cute but he tries it all the time, which can be dangerous (like trying to roll off of the changing table!).  I've got to keep my eye on that guy!
My big boy!

  1. Oh he is looking so cute! Did you ever see such a cute baby? Of course you didn't, haha! I remember when Michael was born and my friends came to see him I'd say, "Well I think he's beautiful, but what if he's not, and I just can't see it because he's my own baby??" So in case you wondered, he is really really cute and also beautiful (above-average as my dad would say) as far as babies go. You're so smart to document these 4 month things right now! You think you'll remember, but you will NOT. Did they give the immunizations in the thighs? So harsh! They used to do both thighs at the same time which seemed awful but at least was over quickly. You gotta wonder what is going through their minds! At least the immunizations get fewer over time - I remember it was so weird when my doctor said, "You know, you don't have to bring the kids in EVERY year," and I was like - what? I used to bring them in every other week!

    1. Thanks so much! I think he is so cute too, of course, haha :) I love the confirmation!!
Yes, they did the immunizations in his thighs, but one at a time. That is a good idea to do them all at once, even if it hurts more at that moment, at least it's over and done with! I can't wait until he doesn't need multiple shots at every appointment, ugh!
