Eight Month Update!

Wow, it has been a while since I last blogged!  Wally turned 8 months old this past weekend.  Here are some things about Wally at 8 months:

- He got his third tooth today (upper-left middle tooth).
- He is scooting around, mostly backwards, and not exactly crawling yet but getting close.
- He loves playing in water (in his little wading pool at home, at big pools, and in the bathtub).
- He still loves trees and ceiling fans!!!
- He generally does better outdoors than indoors.
- Squash is his favorite food.
- He has a cool "360 degree" sippy cup that he can drink out of by himself.  He acts very proud of himself when he does this, and it's very cute!
- He loves all kinds of musical toys, but especially his rattles.
- He still wakes up 2-3 times per night (sometimes more, unfortunately!).
- He is learning to make all kinds of sounds:  "kiss" noises, "raspberry" noises, and all kinds of shrieks, hums, and babbles.
- He can clap his hands!  Very cute!
- He still has eczema flare-ups quite a bit, mainly on his face.  I wish we could get that to go away, but the doctor said most babies grow out if it by 2-3 years old, so we probably have a bit of a wait.
- He loves touching fabric, especially soft or fuzzy fabrics.  When I take him grocery shopping at Meijer, at the end as a treat I bring him to the clothing section and let him touch a bunch of the fabric.  He says "ahh!" or giggles, especially for fleece or velvet-like materials.
- One of his daycare buddies thinks he's her baby.  She wants to give him the bottle and wants to try to comfort him if he cries.  It is funny because she's only a few months older than him (she's in the "infant room" too).
- Wanda and Wally team up against me!  Wally drops food down to her or holds out a messy hand for her to lick.  They think it is great fun, but I am wary because I don't want A) Wanda to get used to being too close to him (esp. with her mouth/teeth!!), B) Wally to get used to throwing food, and C) Wanda to throw up (or worse!) from eating too much "people food".
- He has started to play independently for short stretches of time, usually 5-10 min., but once it was for almost 30 min.!  Yeah!!

Babies look especially cute when they're sleeping peacefully, don't they?! :)
