Nine Month Check-Up
We had Walden's 9 month well-baby exam today! He officially turned 9 months last week, but we were out of town, so we had it scheduled for today. We were lucky to hear that he is a healthy boy! His percentiles are coming down a little bit, but nothing to worry about (89th for height and 95th for weight, compared to his last set of percentiles which were >99th for height and 98th for weight). His next well-baby exam will be at 12 months, how crazy!
Just in the past few days, Wally has seemed to grow and develop really rapidly! He has started pulling himself up everywhere and trying to climb over all sorts of things. He absolutely doesn't want to be held in one place, so the car seat continues to be a challenge (and sometimes the booster seat too, although he generally likes meal-times). Wally's favorite foods are squash, carrots, prunes, and baby cereal. He started eating mashed up big-people food at daycare last week (spaghetti!) and he loves to drink from a sippy cup all by himself. He still likes anything soft and fuzzy!

That's so fun when they can start eating real people-food! But I think it can be a challenge with the veggies etc. I remember I gave Michael the baby food from the jars and would always have a veggie and a fruit, it was so nice and neat and easy to do (sort of like the big "meal prep" craze right now, making all the little portions). Then the first day I gave him a little sandwich cut up into tiny pieces for lunch and thought - uh oh, what should I do for fruit or vegetables now if I'm not spoon-feeding him? Baby carrots don't really work when they have no teeth haha. Anyway, so neat that he is changing so quickly!
ReplyDeleteOh you're so right about it being a challenge to get him a balanced diet! In general, if he eats a lot, then he sleeps better at night, so of course then I just want to feed him things that I know he'll eat. And then if he's feeding himself, he now has the option to not eat some of the things I put out for him! But at least it's super cute to see him try to feed himself, haha :)
